Today I wanted to present some photos from Patricia & Uzo's wedding. It was really a great experience to photograph the wedding of people I've known for years! Several times while I was working, I caught myself smiling at the what was happening in front of me. Before I even get started, I just wanted to thank them for letting me take part in the joy of their wedding day (I love you guys!).
Ehis gave me a helping hand once again (as with Akin & Uju and with Yetty & Debo) by following the guys and getting other great angles. Jennifer also helped assist during the reception--thank you!
Keisha (Keisha's Kreations) handled the floral arrangements, and Mysti (Behind the Bash) coordinated things and kept things flowing in a smooth manner. The ceremony and reception were both held at The Parador.
Of course knowing these two from college, we knew many of the same people so I was happy to see many familiar faces including Elena & Otis.
And now, a sample of moments from 1/5/08:

I wanted to share some cool news! Two of my photos were just published in the February issue of Ebony Magazine (cover pictured above). They were doing a story on African American Greek organizations and ran two of my photos. One of the images runs two pages and actually starts the article.
Here are some shots from the magazine showing the images in question (sorry for the poor quality—my scanner isn't the best).

The pink silhouette image was taken at the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 2005 Probate. I also want to shout out my sister Cassandra and the Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. who are featured in the second photo. It was captured during their Proselyte Day from last September. If you haven't seen the slideshow, from that event yet, you can check it out here: http://www.collinsmetu.com/hudst/

My friend (and fellow photographer) called me up out of the blue a little under two weeks before the turn of the year and asked me if I'd mind photographing his proposal to his girlfriend.
This is now the second time I've photographed a proposal but it was no less of an honor this time around.
Unlike last time, I didn't have to hide behind any bushes or buildings (ha!) since CJ had the proposal coincide with a birthday dinner he had planned with their friends and family. The thinking, of course, was that she her suspicion wouldn't be raised since this is a typically photographed event.
Before the CJ popped the question, everyone enjoyed a great meal at Benihana:

Crystal and CJ

Some tried their hand with the chopsticks...

...others went the more traditional route

After the food, it was time to pop the question. CJ got some help in announcing his intentions

I love the shot of Crystal's reaction here.

An embrace (and she indeed said yes)

A group hug and prayer

I convinced them to take a few shots in the restaurant just as they were closing (we were the last people inside).

Examining the goods
I am super happy for CJ and Crystal and thank you for trusting me to capture such important memories for you two. I want to wish you too many years of happiness going forward!

I hope everyone is enjoying their 2008 so far! This past Saturday I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of my friends Patricia & Uzo. Images from the day are coming soon, but first I wanted to release some photos from Patricia's bridal session into the wild since it's now safe to do so!
The location was the Parador where they were also married. I like the distinct architecture and landscaping of the venue in addition to cool light streaming in from everywhere. Patricia's dress was provided by Parvani Vida
Patricia selected a portrait for her enlargement but liked her photos so much she decided to make an entire album of images from her session. Pretty good idea if you have trouble making a choice!
It was pretty easy photographing this gorgeous bride:

Keep your eyes peeled for photos from Patricia & Uzo's wedding day.
