Although most of my images are coming from weddings these days, I also continue to photograph night life events when the opportunity arises.
Hornitos hosted two events recently that I photographed. I'll be blogging about the second one tomorrow, but for now, here are a few images from their August event at Belvedere Lounge:

Last month I photographed the birthday party of Houston Texans football player Amobi Okoye. The event was held at the Westin Galleria Hotel and featured hundreds of guests.
The beautiful Sanaa Lathan hosted the party and Hip-hop artist Juelz Santana performed live. In addition to the aforementioned, several of his teammates and other athletes and celebrities came to wish Amobi a happy birthday.
I had a great time and Amobi and his friends were refreshingly down-to-earth. Maybe it didn't hurt that we are both of Igbo descent. ;)

This post has been a long time coming (as I shot the event over 2 months ago)! I've had the opportunity to photograph a few of the top-tier alcohol companies' night life events including Hennessy, Belvedere, Moët, and Courvoisier. I always like to forge new relationships and I must say this party was a great way to start one with Absolut.
Kanye West was on the Houston leg of his Glow in the Dark Tour and Absolut, who is sponsoring a series of after parties, held a corresponding one in Houston at Zeppelin.
Kanye didn't show (I think he was on a media boycott at the time) but I have a few photos of the party goers enjoying themselves!

A big thanks to Carmen (pictured here) who put me in the door for this event!

Whew! I just got back from a very busy and travel filled weekend and wanted to blog all about it. I went from Houston to Orlando to DC and finally returned home. Lots of flying, driving, and of course, photographs taken
Last Friday I left Houston and arrived in Orlando, Florida in the late afternoon / early evening to photograph Courvoisier's Rendezvous party at the House of Blues. The party is an annual tradition during the National Black MBA Association's conference week, and after a brief monsoon (!) from 9pm to 10pm, lots of educated and ambitious people crowded the venue to drink Cognac and party hard.
It seems like every Courvoisier party I cover is packed to the brim with people and this was no exception. I also ran into a bunch of friends, which was a pleasant surprise since I wasn't expecting to see anyone I knew. Among the people I recognized were Acho, Alma, and Nwando. It was great seeing you guys!
DJ Dee Wiz was on the turntables and Big Tigger of BET fame was the host of the evening. Shaquille O'Neal even stopped in.
Here are some from the night...

A cool aspect of this party were the casino-style entertainment provided by Harrah's

Alma (from elementary school!)

This place was packed to the brim!
Next blog entry I'll add a few images from my visit to DC the following two days where I caught up with my sister at Howard University.
Alizé recently launched a new beverage, Alizé Rose, and have been holding some parties to celebrate the launch in several cities in the country.
Luckily I was given an invite so I went along with my friends James, Chevonte, and Top to sip the new drink and mingle.
I wasn't the official photographer so I used the opportunity to make an exercise for myself. I really liked the theme of the masquerade and thought the event would look appealing in a really wide format.
Here are a few...

Fresh on the heels of the Jamie Foxx parties for Belvedere Vodka, I was given the opportunity to photograph The House of Courvoisier's local concert featuring Musiq Soulchild, who according to Soundscan, has the number one album in the country.
The event took place at Crome Lounge and it was filled to the brim with people. The general vibe was very classy and while waiting for the guest of honor, the patrons busied themselves with the free premium Cognac that was provided by Courvoisier.
Here are a few photos that caught my eye:

Photographing for repeat clients is great for me because the client is already familiar with your product, your methods, and your personality (and vice versa). You have already worked together and produced great results so you know what to expect the next time around.
I've worked for Moët-Hennessey a few times previously and the events have always been well executed and the staff are simply wonderful. Clearly there are some objectives with respect to "must have images" but even with that they give me freedom to do my thing and try to capture the atmosphere and energy of the event.
Belvedere Vodka was the brand being promoted this time for a series of after-parties to coincide with the dates on Jamie Foxx's Unpredictable Tour. These images are from the Houston & Dallas dates.
Houston's party took place at Venue Night Club. Here are a few images from that party:

Lovely Belvedere models

Excellent lighting as always in Venue

They even brought in a snow machine

And everyone knows why we're here...

They also had an assortment of finger foods

A big thanks to Rhonda, Trish, and everyone with Moët-Hennessey brands...in addition to giving me creative freedom they gave me excellent treatment the entire weekend. I can't wait until we get to work together again!
